Auditions

Auditions consist of solo or group readings, solo vocal audition, vocal range check, and completing an audition form that supplies the director and staff with pertinent information about your skills, abilities, role preferences, and potential or known schedule conflicts.

Readings will be assigned by the director and those involved will have a few moments to look over the material before beginning the reading.  These readings are short excerpts from the script and allow you to show the director what you might bring to a certain role.  Throughout the reading portion of auditions, you may read several different roles, or the same role several times.  If you did not get to read for a part that you wanted to, additional readings may be offered at the end of the night.

Your vocal audition should be a short piece or and excerpt that is only about a minute in length - singing an entire song with many verses slows down the audition process.  Lengthy audition pieces may be cut short at the director's discretion.  In choosing your audition piece, consider it's ability to showcase your voice and what you can do.  Vocal auditions should be accompanied.  There is no need to supply your own accompanist, but don't forget sheet music for our piano player.

Vocal range checks will be done following the solo vocal audition and are quick and painless!  They consist of singing a few short scales at the piano.  This allows the staff to know what range your are able to sing in and helps make sure you aren't being asked to sing notes you are not able to reach!
